What is your mission?

 

  • Finance and accounting:

     

    · Coordinate the day-to-day finance and accounting activities in close collaboration with the external accounting provider, ensuring complete and accurate information is submitted on time.

    · Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for Regional and Group Finance, including variance analysis and supporting explanations, and assist with budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.

    · Review monthly payroll calculations and reconciliations in coordination with HR and the external payroll provider and ensure accurate accounting of payroll costs.

    · Maintain oversight of fixed assets, including additions, disposals, depreciation and periodic reconciliation of the fixed-asset register.

    · Monitor prepaid expenses, accruals, deposits, intercompany accounts and other key balance sheet positions.

    · Review tax calculations, returns and statutory submissions prepared by the external advisers, monitor filing and payment deadlines and support audits and annual statutory reporting.

    · Coordinate the end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes, including supplier invoice collection, review, payment preparation and customer billing.

    · Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders to resolve missing documentation, invoice discrepancies and overdue balances.

    · Prepare customer invoices accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with contractual, tax and internal requirements.

    · Monitor supplier and customer balances, payment due dates and collections, and maintain accurate supporting records and reconciliations.

     

    Office administration:

     

    · Manage the day-to-day administrative needs of the Lisbon office and act as the main point of contact for the landlord, building management and office service providers.

    · Coordinate office maintenance, utilities, security, supplies and other facilities-related services.

    · Manage administrative suppliers, contracts, renewals and related costs, ensuring services are delivered in line with agreed terms and company requirements.

     

    Future in-house accounting responsibilities:

     

    The company currently works with an external accounting provider. As the Portuguese operation develops, accounting activities may be brought in - house and a Group accounting system may be implemented.

    The role holder must therefore be prepared to:

    · Support the local implementation of an ERP system

    · Take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations and period-end closing activities

    · Maintain accounting records in accordance with Portuguese SNC and Group reporting requirements, while coordinating with a Certified Accountant where legally required.

Who are we looking for?

 

· University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.

· Min. 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance operations or a combined finance and administration role.

· Strong practical accounting knowledge, including month-end closing, reconciliations, financial reporting and Portuguese SNC and VAT requirements.

· Experience working with external accountants, reviewing payroll, tax and statutory outputs, and supporting audits.

· Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets.

· Proficiency in ERP/Accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

· Native-level Portuguese and advanced English, with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with local, regional and Group stakeholders.

· Previous experience in a multinational or international organization, preferably within the BPO, shared services or professional services sector.
